Federal Environmental Compliance
Founded in 1994, Mangi Environmental provides nationwide NEPA assistance to Federal Agencies and private organizations. We have served over 100 Federal Agencies in all 50 states and every US territory. As far as we know, Mangi Environmental Group is the only firm specializing in NEPA with a nationwide practice.
With growing litigation involving NEPA documents, greater public scrutiny of government actions, and climate change issues, NEPA has become a true specialty. Increasingly, NEPA compliance work requires environmental scientists with a deep understanding of resource topics and the law.
Our Senior Managers have worked on Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and documents requiring an EA or EIS almost from the time Congress first enacted the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in 1969. Over the last few years, Mangi Environmental Group has seen a growing interest among clients in having Mangi work on projects that required a NEPA document as part of the overall document.
Conflict of Interest Free Mangi Environmental only provides NEPA services. Historically, Federal Agencies have been our only clients. Thus, our only interest is providing the most objective NEPA assistance possible. Since we are not an engineering firm that also does NEPA, no one can worry that our NEPA assistance might be a ploy to gain engineering work. In fact, this specific common situation is one of the reasons Dr. Jim Mangi founded our firm. We have no financial interest or any other interest beyond providing objective NEPA work. Thus, we are completely conflict of interest free.
Industry Assistance: Historically, Mangi has been exclusively a Federal Contractor. After all it has been the Federal Government that has had to comply with NEPA. Over the last few years, more and more private organizations are paying for the Environmental Assessments and/or Environmental Impact Statements. When needed Mangi now deals directly with industry. However, an EA or EIS is still a Federal document written so that the general public can understand it. Thus, even if a private firm hires Mangi Environmental, the Federal Government is still our client. One way to look at this is that Mangi Environmental "ghost writes" the NEPA document for the government. Industry just wants it fast, inexpensive and legally sufficient. |
